Paris, France, 30 September 2020 – Jeito Capital (“Jeito”), a rapidly emerging independent investor dedicated to biotech and biopharma, today announced that Rafaèle Tordjman, Founder and CEO of Jeito, has been awarded Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.
The Légion d’Honneur is France’s highest distinction and one of the best known in the world. For two centuries, it has been awarded in the name of the French President to reward the most deserving citizens in all fields of activity.
Today Rafaèle Tordjman, received from Cédric O, French Minister in charge of the tech and digital transition, the medal of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur for her outstanding overall achievements.
Rafaèle Tordjman has been an investor in life science companies since 2001. She joined Sofinnova Partners, a Paris-based venture capital firm, as an analyst and later became co-leader and managing partner with approximately 1.5 billion of assets under management. Among other companies, Rafaèle invested in and served on the boards of DBV Technologies [DBV], Ascendis [ASND], Lysogene [LYS], MedDay, Enyo Pharma, Nucana Biomed [NCNA], ObsEva [OBSV], Flexion Therapeutics [FLXN] and Preglem (before the company was acquired by Gedeon Richter).
Prior to joining Sofinnova Partners, Rafaèle worked as a physician and researcher in hemato-oncology and completed her post-doctoral work in immunology at INSERM, Cochin Hospital, and published in Nature Immunology among others. In 2002, she also completed a management training course at INSEAD.
In 2018, Rafaèle Tordjman created Jeito Capital, an independent investment company dedicated to biopharma and biotech, to establish a model of continuous financing and to invest in the next generation of leaders in medical innovation. This most recent accolade underlines her commitment, throughout her career, and stronger than ever today via Jeito, to accelerating patients’ access to medical breakthrough treatments.
Rafaèle Tordjman is committed to supporting female entrepreneurs in healthcare and is the founder of W.I.T.H (Women Innovating Together in Healthcare), an international network which brings together nearly 500 talented women working in the healthcare field.
